Job Description

The Digital Marketing Project Manager will be responsible for leading the digital campaigns and managing the deliverables. The Digital Marketing Project Manager will have a strong understanding of the end destination for where the assets go. As this is a new position for Blue North Strategies in Guelph, this role will be responsible for creating processes and identifying tools to run digital projects effectively.

The Digital Marketing Project Manager oversees all aspects of the digital project and is responsible for co-ordination and completion of the project. To this end, the Digital Marketing Project Manager will be responsible for all tasks related to the successful execution of a project; including writing requirements and creative briefs, setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities and monitoring and summarizing progress of the project.

What the Role Includes

Project Management Responsibilities

  • Plan projects in order to accomplish their goals or produce the products required within constraints such as time, cost and agreed quality standards
  • Maintain project budgets and deliver the projects within the defined budgets
  • Meet with the Director of Digital Strategy regularly to update and inform them on the status of active projects and receive direction as required
  • Continuously monitor progress in terms of the status of the plan and the budget and report back via weekly or other progress reporting and by organizing and managing internal and client status meetings
  • Anticipate and catch deviations from a plan or schedule early; take corrective action as necessary and keep key participants and stakeholders informed as necessary
  • Identify, log, analyse and manage potential and actual issues and risks, taking corrective action and being aware of how more serious issues and risks might impact on scope, schedule, quality and cost
  • Communicate in a tactful manner to get ideas across to the team and client
  • Work directly with the team members to estimate effort, plan activities and negotiate consensus on their appointed tasks
  • Manage and coordinate the work done by freelancers (who have been secured by the Director of Digital Strategy)

  • Provide team with direction and vision, including leading and motivating people to perform, listening to people, and providing feedback on projects
  • Bring the project to a close, which may include creating an end of project report or evaluation document

Organizing Responsibilities

  • Create a structure for project documentation and remain conscientious in using it and ensuring that the rest of the team understands and uses it
  • Follow the structure for project assets, including digital assets and remain conscientious in using it and ensuring that the rest of the team understands and uses it
  • Perform topline analysis and identify opportunities to improve client campaigns
  • Maintain the monthly billing projections, cross-reference against actual and assist in the preparation of monthly invoices to clients
  • Look for and develop efficiencies wherever possible

Technical and Quality Responsibilities

  • Use the project management tool (Workamajig and Basecamp) in order to understand questions and requests coming from clients
  • Demonstrate high proficiency in Workamajig and Basecamp
  • Understand relevant methodologies, processes and standards and ensure that all project team members understand and also follow these
  • Own the project’s commitment to quality
  • Develop project management expertise to share and mentor
  • Assist the Director of Digital Strategy in the implementation of new project management tools and best practices


  • 5 plus years’ experience in managing digital projects consisting of digital media, email and/or landing page development
  • 5 plus years’ experience project managing Digital Marketing projects
  • Competency in Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
  • Competency in Facebook Ads Manager, Google AdWords/Ad Manager and other digital media platforms
  • Highly organized and energetic with a proven track record of meeting deadlines
  • Initiative and the drive to take a project by the horns and make sure it gets done
  • Ability to speak up and resolve issues when projects aren’t running smoothly or on time
  • Effective communicator with the ability to work with a variety of creative professionals
  • An eye for detail and 100% accuracy
  • Flexible and adaptable for working on multiple projects of varying size at any given time in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Reporting Structure

The Digital Marketing Project Manager reports to the Manager of Project Management.
