Print Production Specialist

About the role

The Print Production Specialist is responsible for the planning, execution and project management of Blue North’s print production requirements. This includes gathering print production requirements, responding to quote requests, liaising with internal project managers and external vendors and managing the flow of information to ensure timely and efficient delivery to clients.


What you’ll do in the role:


Production
  • Facilitate the production of fundraising campaign material and printed product
  • Coordinate planning, production and execution of master production schedules for direct mail
  • Manage the production process to ensure production schedule is met and print production and vendor delivery is high quality, cost effective and timely
  • Process and track mock-ups, prototypes, electronic templates and printer proofs with vendors
  • Communicate print issues to account teams and coordinate solutions
  • Perform vendor, technology and equipment investigations

Procurement
  • Support Blue North’s procurement objectives and vendor procurement practices
  • Coordinate project level requirements with internal teams, establish production specifications to acquire competitive production quotes and negotiate effective pricing

You bring to the role:

  • Five years’ direct mail experience in a purchasing, print or lettershop environment
  • Strong knowledge of postal requirements to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Knowledge of the 4-colour print production process and offset and digital production methods
  • In-depth knowledge of vendor capabilities; sheet fed, web printing and lettershop services; and data services and variable compositions for personalized output
  • Direct mail experience is considered an asset
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and analytical skills
  • Commitment to continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Highly motivated with a high level of initiative to work independently and solve problems creatively
  • Ability to multitask and utilize resources to execute tasks within a deadline-oriented and fast-paced environment
